Bantry Bay, Ireland

Bantry Bay & The Gulf Stream Coast

Sheralyn's Diary

Today we are visiting Mizen Head and Bantry. Weather is quite nice. A bit overcast but not raining. Mizen head is the most southerly point of Ireland and the views out to the Atlantic are stunning. There is an old signal station that has been preserved as a museum. It depicts how the signal lived while working in the station. To get to the station you have to cross a high bridge with fantastic views of the sea below and sometimes there is seals on the rocks below. Coming back you have the choice of 99 steep steps or the same way you went down. Views are sensational

Mizen Head

On the way to Mizen we stopped at a religious sight called Altar. As the name depicts it was an altar for the very poor who could not afford to go to church. The funny shaped sign by the coach depicts that the road is the Wild Atlantic Way. This goes almost the whole way round Ireland.

Farewell Jackie!

Farewell Jackie!

Yesterday we said farewell to the lovely Jackie who has been working for us for the past 15 years!

Jackie has said that she has enjoyed the fun times over the years, and has made lifelong friends in her time here.

She started off at Barnes Coaches where it all began in the village of Aldbourne and has loved to see the company expand & grow - (even if it has given her a few grey hairs she says!)

Thank you for all your hard work, you will be missed!
