Tours whilst in resort
A We visit Innsbruck which is over 800 years old and we have all day to explore this charming alpine city, including the most famous landmark of all, the ‘Golden Roof’. The city also hosted the winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976. We have included a 2 hour walking tour of the city, a 1 hour horse drawn sleigh ride around the town (sleigh will have wheels) and finally a ride on the Stubaitalbahn tram which connects Innsbruck with the surrounding mountain hamlets.
B A scenic circular trip around the Wild Emperor Mountains and the Kitzbühel Alps. We journey via the pretty lakeside town of Walchsee and stop in Gasteig at the “Wilder Kaiser” Experience Cheese museum. Take a tour of the museum and maybe taste some good Tyrolean cheese! Then on to the beautiful market town of St. Johann where we can wander through the cobble-stoned streets past high end boutique shops.
C The hills are alive with the sound of music. Visit Salzburg, the Mozart capital of the world and home of the ever-popular movie “The Sound of Music”. The guided walking tour of this magical city will show you some of the many highlights. Then there will be free time in the city for shopping and sightseeing.
D We make our way to Rattenburg for a lunchtime stop. It is Austria’s smallest historical town and its medieval pedestrian zone is dominated by unique displays of glass craft. In the afternoon we enjoy a unique experience as we ride the Pinzgau Winter Tale Steam Railway to the icy Krimml Falls where we have a guided torchlight walk. After our tour we enjoy a warming schnapps before enjoying dinner at Hanke’s restaurant at the waterfalls.
Thursday Through Germany to our hotel in Saarlouis.
Friday We return to England by Eurotunnel.
