Saturday To Pembrokeshire for our ferry crossing to Rosslare and on to Waterford. Our hotel is the superb 3 star Dooley’s.

Sunday Leaving Waterford we call at Cobh, overlooking the world’s finest natural harbour. It also has plenty of history as 2.5 million people emigrated through here and it was also the last port of call of the Titanic. Then on to Castleisland our base for 3 nights.

Monday Along the Beara Peninsula coast road, which is dotted with small fishing villages and clothed in spectacular scenery, to our lunch time stop in Castletown Bearhaven. It is the main town on the peninsula and is surrounded by mountains and sea. Later we stop in Glengarriff where a short passenger ferry ride brings us to Garinish Island with its Italianate Gardens and colony of playful seals.

Tuesday We venture south through delightful Cork countryside to Mizen Head, Ireland’s most southerly point reached along a rocky coastline, sliced by small coves. A treat lies in store at Mizen with a visit to the Signal Station, although it’s not for the faint-hearted as to reach the island you must cross an arched bridge that spans the vast gulf over the sea below. We return passing through Schull and Ballydehob and have free time to explore Bantry.

Wednesday Leaving Bantry we make a lunch time stop in Dungarvan, a market town arranged around its own bay with plenty of food options. Then on to our overnight hotel in Wexford.

Thursday We catch the ferry to Wales and enjoy the return journey home.
