A journey of discovery visiting Scotland’s Western Isles when the autumn colours should be at their most prominent! Some of the Isles are linked by causeway and there are ferry rides between others amidst stunning and ever-changing scenery. There is also great scenery to be seen on the mainland as we pass through the Highlands.

There is also great scenery to be seen on the mainland as we pass through the Highlands.

Saturday We travel to Scotland and stop overnight at the King Robert Hotel in Stirling.

Sunday Great scenery all day as we travel through the Highlands, Cairngorms and Speyside with short stops in Pitlochry and Inverness before continuing to Ullapool to catch the early evening ferry to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, our base for 2 nights.

Monday A wonderful guided tour around the Isle of Lewis, with a local guide. We view amazing scenery as well as traditional Blackhouses, amazingly still lived in until recently, “Scotland’s Stonehenge” at Callanish and an historic “Broch” at Carloway.

Tuesday The early part of the morning is free to explore Stornoway, with its mix of traditional businesses like fishing, tweed and farming, or you can maybe visit the castle (not included). Then an afternoon of island hopping as we travel south through Lewis and Harris, with magnificent beaches and scenery throughout. We continue by ferry to the Isle of Berneray and then by causeways to the islands of North Uist and finally Benbecula and the Dark Island Hotel, our base for 2 nights.
Wednesday Another super full day guided tour of Benbecula and the Uists, including a visit to a museum.

Thursday A long but rewarding day today as we catch the ferry from Lochmaddy to Uig on the northern tip of the Isle of Skye. We then take a wonderful scenic journey across Skye and then through the Highlands of Scotland returning to our overnight stop back in Stirling.

Friday We return home.
