Monday We head East with a stop in St Albans, a cathedral city with history dating back to Roman times.

Tuesday Into central London for a 75 minute river cruise on the Thames from Westminster to Royal Greenwich, which became a royal borough following the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012. We then visit the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre at the Royal Naval College. It tells the story of Maritime Greenwich and its links to Henry VIII. The remainder of the day is free to explore Greenwich. Options include the recently restored Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, the National Maritime Museum or the Queens House (none of these optional admissions are included).

Wednesday This morning we explore the London Canal Museum, learning about the historic importance of London's waterways, followed by a guided walk along the towpath to Camden Town. Following free time to browse Camden's famous market, we take the London Waterbus for a scenic canal journey to London's Little Venice, where the Regent and Grand Union Canals meet.

Thursday We return home with an extended stop in Windsor. You could maybe cross the River Thames to see Eton as well.
