Harrogate, Skipton & The Yorkshire Dales for Christmas

Monday We head north and make a stop in historic Matlock, where there are riverside walks and small, independent shops.

Christmas Eve We skirt the southern end of the Yorkshire Moors and visit Ilkley, set in beautiful Wharfedale. It is a picturesque town that also offer a unique and upmarket shopping experience with a range of distinctive retail outlets. We return in time for afternoon tea and a quiz at the hotel. Or explore Harrogate if you would prefer.

Christmas Day A relaxing morning and if you wish, ask our hotel for a map for a self-directed walk of the nearby Valley Gardens including a treasure hunt. On our return we will be rewarded with a hot drink or a sloe gin! There is a 4-course Christmas lunch, cake with the King’s speech, a buffet in the evening and bingo!

Boxing Day A circular tour of the Dales with a short stop in Grassington and a longer lunchtime stop in Skipton. Skipton has a 900-year-old castle as well as an impressive market place and a historic cobbled high street.

Friday We return home with a lunchtime stop in Stratford-upon-Avon.
