This tour is now a firm favourite and the highlight for many is a visit to the Aviation Viewing Park at Manchester Airport and taking a tour of the Concorde flagship aircraft.
This new and improved itinerary worked well last year with the addition of a 50 minute Mersey Explorer Cruise on a famous Mersey Ferry a great hit!
Monday We travel north with a lunchtime stop at the famous Bury Market.
Tuesday We enjoy a ride on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway before free time in Skipton for lunch. Then to the Leeds Liverpool canal, a truly fascinating waterway steeped in history and natural scenic beauty. The skipper unravels the 200 year-old tale of the canal while passing through spectacular scenery and swing bridges. The trip includes tea/ coffee and biscuits.
Wednesday Straight from breakfast we head to Blackpool where there is time to explore. Then to Liverpool for a 50 minute explorer cruise on a Mersey Ferry. This is followed by free time in the historic Albert Dock area as well.
Thursday We travel through the Rossendale Valley to Rawtenstall for a ride on the East Lancashire Railway. The 12 mile journey to Heywood passes through the scenic Irwell Valley with restored stations, viaducts and tunnels along the way. Then the highlight of the tour as we visit the Aviation Viewing Park at Manchester Airport for a tour of Concorde G-BOAC. There are also other planes on site to view plus the planes taking off from Manchester Airport.
Friday We return home with an extended lunchtime stop in historic Chester.
