Friday We make our way north to Heysham and the three-and-a-half-hour ferry crossing to the Isle of Man.

Saturday Views of the Calf of Man (look out for the seals!) before we visit Port Erin with its crystal-clear waters and beautiful setting. Later time to explore the Port Erin Railway Museum before we enjoy an hour-long, single journey you will never forget on the Isle of Man Victorian Steam Railway, described as “perfectly frozen in time”, back to Douglas. We will also visit the former home of the Manx Parliament known as the House of Keys, here we can take a seat in the finely restored debating chamber.

Sunday We enjoy a nostalgic return journey along Douglas’s seafront on a Horse Tram, which have been operating since 1876. We also enjoy a circular scenic tour, by coach, with a stop in Ramsey, a bustling town with a busy shopping street, harbour and beach.

Monday We catch the unique Manx Electric Railway from Douglas to Laxey. The line still operates with most of its original Victorian and Edwardian rolling stock. In Laxey we transfer to the Snaefell Mountain Railway for a ride to the summit. The ride takes about 30 minutes and offers amazing views of Laxey Glens and the surrounding countryside. We return via the Mountain Railway and the Electric Railway and have the rest of the day free to explore Douglas.

Tuesday We return to the mainland and the journey home.
