A wonderful Scottish Highlands tour with delightful scenery, a memorable rail journey, a famous castle and the chance to discover dolphins in the Moray Firth.

We take a different route north and south through Scotland, so beautiful and different scenery seen throughout.

Wednesday We head north to our overnight hotel in Gretna Green and we arrive in time for you to have a look around the famous sights in this historic town. Our hotel is the 3 star Gretna Hall Hotel.

Thursday Past Glasgow and we make a stop at the Loch Lomond Shores, with shops, eating options and walks on the banks of the loch. Lovely landscape all the way from here as we travel through wonderful Highland scenery, including views of Ben Nevis, then along the shores of Loch Ness towards our base for four nights in Beauly.

Friday We enjoy a memorable trip on one of the world’s most scenic rail journeys from Dingwall to Kyle of Lochalsh. After weaving through the Highlands we have super views of the Isle of Skye as we near Kyle of Lochalsh. Throughout, crystal clear lochs mirror the forests and mountains on this wonderful journey. Our coach meets us at the end of the journey and we cross onto the Isle of Skye for free time in Kyleakin before enjoying another scenic journey back passing Loch Duich and Cluanie.

Saturday Experience an unforgettable boat cruise on the Moray Firth to hopefully see the world’s most northerly population of Bottlenose Dolphins. There will also be great views and hopefully more wildlife including otters and seals. We then head north along the coast to visit Dunrobin Castle, with its fairytale spires and turrets plus great gardens.

Sunday A free day to relax and enjoy Beauly, or maybe catch the local train for the 15 minute ride into Inverness (not included). Inverness is the Capital of the Highlands and has a thriving old town with a river setting.

Monday More Highland scenery as we head south via the Cairngorms National Park.  We make a lunch time stop in Pitlochry with its clear sparkling air, beautiful scenery and rich clan history. Our overnight hotel is in Gretna Green again.

Tuesday We return home.
