Highland Fling

From our main base in Kingussie, nestling within the Cairngorms National Park, we visit some “must see” attractions coupled with amazing scenery.

Monday We head north to our overnight hotel in Gretna Green, we arrive in time for you to have a look around the famous sights in this historic town. Our hotel is the 3 star Gretna Hall Hotel.

Tuesday Past Glasgow and we make a stop at the Loch Lomond Shores, with shops, eating options and walks on the banks of the loch. Great views all the way from here as we travel through wonderful Highland scenery, including views of Ben Nevis and then into the Highlands towards our base for 4 nights in Kingussie.

Tours whilst at Resort

a To Fort Augustus, a lovely town where the Caledonian Canal meets Loch Ness. Following free time we board our boat for a wonderfully relaxing cruise on Loch Ness with stunning views of Urquhart Castle and possibly Nessie!

b We travel to Inverness, the cultural capital of the Highlands. Stroll along the banks of the River Ness  or browse the indoor Victorian Market. In the afternoon we visit Speyside Cooperage at Craigellachie, home of the ancient art of coopering for over 70 years. Our tour takes us on the journey “from acorn to cask” and includes a tasting.

c Spectacular views of the mountainous landscape which epitomises this beautiful country as we take the funicular Cairngorm Mountain Railway to the top of Cairn Gorm. Later we visit the open air Highland Folk museum in Newtonmore. There are over 30 historical buildings showing how Highland people lived from the 1700s to the 1960s.

Saturday More fine Highland scenery as we head south via the Cairngorms National Park with its clear sparkling air, beautiful views and rich clan history. We make a lunchtime stop in the historic city of Stirling. Our overnight hotel is in Gretna Green again.

Sunday We return home.
