The Inn on the Lake enjoys one of the most spectacular settings in the Lake District with its fifteen acres of lawns sweeping to the shores of Ullswater. Evening meals are served in the AA Rosette Lake View restaurant which has creative, exciting menus using fresh, local ingredients to ensure you remember the food as much as the hotel.
Monday North with a late lunchtime stop in Kendal, a market town on the edge of the Lake District. We travel to Pooley Bridge and along the shores of Ullswater to our hotel.
Tours whilst at resort
A | We begin with a fabulous cruise on a ‘steamer’ from our hotel to Pooley Bridge along the length of Ullswater, then to a lunchtime stop in the ever-popular tourist town of Keswick. Then through the heart of the wonderfully scenic Lake District, taking in Rydal Water, Grasmere and Thirlmere to our second stop of the day in Ambleside. We complete the circular tour with a drive over the dramatic Kirkstone Pass, with views of Windermere. Great scenery all day and we view seven of the lakes!
B | Into the Pennines and views all day as we climb all the way up to the Hartside Top, where we take a short break to enjoy the views back as far as the Lake District. Then on to the market town of Hexham. Hexham has an excellent range of specialist and independent shops to explore and is often described as one of the best places to live in the UK. We return via the B6318 from Chollerford to Gilsland which follows the course of Hadrian’s Wall.
Thursday The holiday is not over as we make another drive over the Kirkstone Pass in the opposite direction and make a stop in Bowness-on-Windermere. We continue along the eastern edge of Windermere with some great views, before heading south.
