You don’t have to be a rail or boat enthusiast to enjoy the wonderful scenery of Devon and Cornwall from a different viewpoint on boats and trains! We are based in the great city of Plymouth so you get fascinating history and excellent shopping as well. We have also included entry to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, with a guided tour, and the beautiful Garden House. An action packed and superb tour.
Sunday To Devon and time to explore Plymouth before we check into our hotel.
Monday The Devon Riviera. To Paignton and a ride on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway to Kingswear, a route constructed by Brunel that hugs the coast for part of the way. We then take the little ferry across to the olde worlde port of Dartmouth where we have free time. Our day concludes with a boat ride up the scenic River Dart to Totnes where our coach awaits.
Tuesday The Dartmoor Flyer. A day tour of Dartmoor starting with a train ride up the beautiful Tamar estuary to Gunnislake. We make a morning stop in Tavistock and then we visit The Garden House, one of the finest gardens in Britain. There is time to explore and also visit the café (not included). We return to the hotel with a scenic drive enjoying the ponies, rolling countryside and craggy hills of the Dartmoor National Park.
Wednesday The Cornish Belle. Following a guided tour of the amazing Lost Gardens of Heligan we make a lunch time stop in the delightful fishing port of Looe. We then board the train for a ride up the pretty Looe Valley line to Liskeard.
