Monday We call at Stamford, an ancient town of mellow stone and full of old world charm. Middlemarch was filmed here. On arrival we have tea and coffee plus the local speciality of Plum Bread and Poacher Cheese.
Tuesday We spend the day in the stunning city of Lincoln, crowned by the Cathedral, one of Europe’s finest examples of Gothic architecture.
Wednesday To Boston, set in the heart of Lincolnshire’s dramatic Fenland and immersed in history where today it is Market Day. Then Woodhall Spa, famous for its peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
Thursday To nearby Eastons Gardens where we have a meet and greet followed by time to explore the estate and walled gardens that have been 450 years in the making. The snowdrops spread across both banks of the river and release wafts of perfume on sunny days. Later, we head over to the picturesque town of Newark-on-Trent, an authentic British market town, full of historical streets, castles, cakes and boutiques! You can unveil the unique character shaped by the ruins of Newark Castle present as early as the year 1068, where Oliver Cromwell fought battles against the Royalists and King John was poisoned.
Last Day We head to Melton Mowbray, famous for its pork pies and Stilton cheese, and with gardens alongside the river.
