We take a step back in time and ride on wonderfully restored vintage trams from all over the world, experience Derbyshire’s longest heritage railway and enjoy an out of hours visit to explore a magnificent neo-classical mansion with beautiful landscaped parkland.
We also discover the stunning landscapes and rich heritage of the Peak District, Britain's first National Park and one of the most beautiful regions in the UK. A great hit in 2018 when operating for the first time.
Thurday We head north with a lunchtime stop in Warwick. We have tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival.
Friday We enjoy a scenic circular tour of the Peak District, renowned for its beautiful scenery and quaint towns. First stop in Bakewell, set on the banks of the River Wye, and then on to Buxton, England’s highest town and surrounded by stunning scenery.
Saturday We visit the magnificent Kedleston Hall, a spectacular mansion designed specifically for lavish entertaining. We enjoy a private 90-minute guided tour of the hall before it is opened to the public, after which you can explore the wonderful grounds. In the afternoon we make a scenic drive via Carsington Water and travel to Wirksworth, known as the Gem of the Peaks. We enjoy an Afternoon Tea in a wonderful converted Pullman carriage at Wirksworth Station. Then relive the nostalgia of rail travel as we join The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for a journey through one of Derbyshire’s most lovely and unspoilt valleys.
Sunday Crich Tramway Village has developed into one of Derbyshire's most unique visitor attractions. Beautifully restored trams run to and fro down a cobbled street before passing under the Bowes-Lyon Bridge then climbing a mile and a half of track that provides breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. We can also visit the fascinating Workshop Viewing Gallery or wander around the period shops on the authentic village street. Later we stop in Matlock, set in a beautiful gorge.
Monday We return home with a stop in Stratford upon Avon.
