Pembrokeshire

Tenby | 7 Days

Pembrokeshire is known throughout the world for its awesome coastal scenery and its golden sands are backed by towering cliffs. Tenby itself is a delightful little harbour town and seaside resort, and it would be difficult to find a setting more picturesque.  It has some of Pembrokeshire's most beautiful beaches and the town itself is home to many shops, cafes and pubs all linked by cobbled streets.

First Day A lunchtime stop in Abergavenny and a lovely drive through the Brecon Beacons to Tenby.

Tours whilst at resort

A A grand circular tour of Pembrokeshire starts as we travel via the Cleddau Bridge to Haverfordwest, where we make a short stop. Then we travel along the coast road known for its “Seventeen Hills in Sixteen Miles” through Newgale Pebble Beach and the quaint little village of Solva to St. Davids, where ample time is allowed for lunch and to view the cathedral, the largest in Wales and built on a lovely stretch of coastline. We continue along the Irish Sea Coast to Fishguard and our return to Tenby is over the Preseli Mountains.

We travel to Carmarthen for a lunchtime stop, where there is good shopping and Wednesday is market day. Then on to Laugharne for a short stop in this attractive village. Our return to Tenby takes in Pendine Sands and the narrow coast road past Amroth Castle, where during the last 25 years all the houses on the sea-ward side have been washed away.

Another day exploring Pembrokeshire as we take a beautiful morning drive along the coast through Penally and Lydstep to St Govans. We continue through Merrion and Hundleton to our lunchtime stop in Pembroke where we can view the impressive mediaeval fortress. We return following an afternoon stop in Saundersfoot, a fishing village at the foot of a picturesque wooded valley.

To Cardigan, with its unspoilt townscape and rich heritage, then up the Teifi Valley to Cenarth, a conservation village huddled around spectacular waterfalls.

Last Day  We head towards home with a stop in Cardiff, with unique attractions and quality shopping all in walking distance.
