Saturday To France via Eurotunnel and on to our hotel near Saarbrucken.
Sunday We continue through Germany and on to our 4 star hotel in the centre of Jenbach. Jenbach is a market town between the Rofan and Karwendel mountain chains.
Monday We visit Innsbruck which is over 800 years old and we have all day to explore this charming alpine city, including the most famous landmark of all, the ‘Golden Roof’. The city also hosted the winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976. We have included a tour of Ambras Castle, which lies in the hills above Innsbruck, and a ride on the Stubaitalbahn tram which connects Innsbruck with the surrounding mountain hamlets.
Tuesday A scenic circular trip around the Wild Emperor Mountains and the Kitzbühel Alps. We journey via the pretty lakeside town of Walchsee and stop in Gasteig at the “Wilder Kaeser” Experience Cheese museum. Take a tour of the museum and maybe taste some good Tyrolean cheese! Then on to the beautiful market town of St. Johann where we can wander through the cobble-stoned streets passed high end boutique shops. Then along the scenic Brixen valley where we stop at a Tyrolean Schnapps Museum and learn how schnapps is distilled and enjoy tasting some of the local firewater.
Wednesday The hills are alive with the sound of music. Visit Salzburg, the Mozart capital of the world and home of the ever-popular movie “The Sound of Music”. The guided walking tour of this magical city will show you some of the many highlights. Then there will be free time in the city for shopping and sightseeing.
Thursday After breakfast we experience a horse drawn sleigh ride through a breathtaking winter’s landscape (sleigh may have wheels if weather not suitable). In the afternoon we enjoy a unique experience as we ride the Pinzgau Winter Tale Railway to the icy Krimml Falls where we have a guided torchlight walk. After our tour we enjoy a warming schnapps before enjoying dinner at Hanke’s restaurant at the waterfalls.
Friday Through Germany to our hotel near Saarbrucken
Saturday We return to England by Eurotunnel.
