Saturday To Pembrokeshire for our ferry crossing to Rosslare and on to Waterford. Our hotel is the superb 3 star Dooley’s.
Sunday Leaving Waterford we call at Cork, steeped in history and with great views and architecture, before moving on to Castleisland and our 3 star hotel for 3 nights.
Monday We have a circular tour of the Beara Peninsula coast road, which is dotted with small fishing villages and clothed in spectacular scenery. After travelling through Lauragh and Eyeries we reach Castletown Bearhaven, where we make a lunchtime stop. We then complete the circular tour en route to Glengarriff where a short passenger ferry ride brings us to Garinish Island with its Italianate Gardens and colony of playful seals.
Tuesday We venture south through delightful Cork countryside to Mizen Head, Ireland’s most southerly point reached along a rocky coastline, sliced by small coves. A treat lies in store at Mizen with a visit to the Signal Station, although it’s not for the faint-hearted as to reach the island you must cross an arched bridge that spans the vast gulf over the sea below. We return passing through Schull and Ballydehob and have free time to explore Bantry’s magnificent harbour.
Wednesday Leaving Bantry we make a stop in the mediaeval town of Kilkenny with its 1000 years of history, cobbled lanes and famous castle. Then on to our overnight hotel in Wexford.
Thursday We catch the ferry to Wales and enjoy the return journey home.
