Tours at Resort
a Crich Tramway Village has developed into one of Derbyshire's most unique visitor attractions, located in the heart of Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Beautifully restored trams run to and fro down a cobbled street before passing under the Bowes-Lyon Bridge then climbing a mile and a half of track that provides breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. We can also visit the fascinating Workshop Viewing Gallery or wander around the period shops on the authentic village street. Later we stop in Matlock, set in a beautiful gorge.
b We enjoy a scenic circular tour of the Peak District, renowned for its beautiful scenery and quaint towns. First stop in Bakewell, set on the banks of the River Wye, and then on to Buxton, England’s highest town and surrounded by stunning scenery.
c We visit the magnificent Kedleston Hall, a spectacular mansion designed specifically for lavish entertaining. The garden was landscape designed by Robert Adam. We enjoy a private 90-minute guided tour of the hall before it is opened to the public, after which you can explore the wonderful grounds. In the afternoon we make a scenic drive via Carsington Water and travel to Wirksworth, known as the Gem of the Peaks. We enjoy an Afternoon Tea consisting of a freshly made sandwich platter, scones with jam and cream, a slice of cake and tea or coffee served to your table in a wonderful converted Pullman carriage at Wirksworth Station. Then relive the nostalgia of rail travel as we join The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for a journey through one of Derbyshire’s most lovely and unspoilt valleys.
Last Day We return home with a stop in Stratford upon Avon.
