An opportunity to stay at a 4 star hotel in the centre of the beautiful city of Durham.
We enjoy fascinating, turn-of-the-century history recreated at Beamish, a scenic tour of the Yorkshire Dales with a local guide and a visit to the former surgery of England’s most famous vet.
Day 1 We travel north with a stop in York.
Day 2 We spend the day at Beamish, the world-famous, open-air museum, telling the story of life in the North East during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Includes trams, carousel and a mine amongst other attractions!
Day 3 A free day to explore Durham and its famous cathedral and university. Or catch a local bus or train to nearby Newcastle or Bishop Auckland.
Day 4 We embark on a tour of the Durham and Yorkshire Dales with a local guide on board. An interesting day out that combines glorious scenery with rich history and includes some quirky places!
Day 5 We return home with a stop in the Olde Worlde town of Thirsk; “Darrowby’” in the books by James Herriot. Visit his former surgery which is now a museum.
