a The seat of The Dukes of Norfolk set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds overlooking the River Arun, Arundel Castle is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art and stunning gardens. We have an enjoyable and informative guided tour followed by time to experience more of the castle and gardens at leisure. Later we visit charming Arundel, a picturesque market town full of history, heritage and contemporary culture. We can discover the impressive cathedral or explore some of the lovely independent shops and cafes.

b To Lewes, set in the South Downs National Park, which boasts a wealth of cafes, pubs and restaurants plus independent and unusual shops. Lewes Castle is one of the oldest Norman fortresses in England, with incredible panoramic views of Sussex from the top of the keep. The adjoining Barbican House Museum contains incredible artefacts which tell the story of Sussex from early prehistoric to late medieval times. Then on to Anne of Cleves House which formed part of Anne’s divorce settlement from Henry VIII in 1541 and is a wonderful example of a medieval timber framed building dating from the late 1400’s.

c We head to Brighton to enjoy a visit to King George IV's Royal Pavilion, an extraordinary and extravagant pleasure palace with an exotic, oriental appearance both inside and out. Then free time in Brighton itself, one of Britain's most famous seaside towns with its traditional attractions including the superbly restored Victorian Palace Pier.
