Kent has a rich sense of history and tradition, and is dotted with picturesque villages, imposing castles and stately homes. The Historic Dockyard has recently been used for filming “Call the Midwife” as well as “Mr Selfridge” and is also a treat for people who like all things water-borne with its 400 year history. We also enjoy a train ride and vists a castle with gardens all whilst based in a fantastic, 4 star hotel.
First Day To Kent via a lunchtime stop in Maidstone.
Tours whilst at Resort
a We are met at the Historic Dockyard by our very own ‘midwife’ for an incredible tour. The dockyard has been transformed into 1950’s Poplar Docks many times and has had countless scenes involving the show’s stars throughout the five series. Following the tour you are free for the remainder of the day to explore the dockyard and discover so much including how ships, including HMS Victory, were built.
b To Rye, a medieval gem of a town perched on a hill. Later we enjoy a nostalgic trip on the Kent & East Sussex Railway, which stretches over 10 miles between Tenterden and Bodiam stations, and where visitors love the excitement of travelling on one of the country's finest rural light railways.
c To famous Battle for time to explore. The remainder of the day is spent at Hever Castle & Gardens. With over 700 years of history this is a splendid day out.
